My name is Dr. Aliza Panjwani, PhD, C.Psych. I am a registered clinical and health psychologist in Ontario, providing therapy to adults, both individuals and couples. People often come to therapy when something in their lives has become difficult to carry on their own, or when they feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward.
Life can feel profoundly unsettling when you are anxious, depressed, grieving loss, dealing with trauma, struggling in your relationships, facing changes in your health or reproductive choices, caregiving, going through a life transition, or just no longer feeling like yourself. Sometimes life is interrupted in ways we expect (though knowing something is coming doesn't necessarily make it easier) and sometimes in ways we never even could have imagined. You may be carrying more than others realize, questioning what comes next, feeling disconnected from the person you used to be, or finding that the ways you once coped are no longer working.
Therapy can offer a space to slow down and understand what you are carrying, while also being active and responsive to your needs. Together, we can look at patterns that may be keeping you stuck, develop new ways of responding to difficult thoughts and emotions, strengthen coping skills, and work through decisions or changes that feel hard to navigate. Hope does not have to mean believing that everything will work out exactly as you want it to. Sometimes it means feeling less overwhelmed, having more confidence in your ability to handle what is in front of you, reconnecting with parts of yourself that have felt lost, or beginning to see a path forward even when some things remain uncertain. Our goal will not be to erase what has been difficult, but to help you feel more grounded, capable, and able to move toward a life that reflects what matters most to you.
You may appreciate my approach if you are looking for therapy that is warm, thoughtful, evidence-based, and engaged. I will ask questions, offer reflections, help you consider different perspectives, and introduce strategies or new approaches to what you may be facing. At the same time, I do not believe every difficult experience needs to be fixed or reframed. Sometimes the work is about making changes, and sometimes it is about finding ways to live with greater clarity, self-understanding, and steadiness in the face of circumstances beyond our control.
