Clinician Qualifications & Approach
Emanuelito
(Eman) Tomas is a Registered Nurse (RN) licensed with the College of
Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) (Reg. #130070). He also holds national
certification in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing (CPMHN(C))
through the Canadian Nurses Association, recognizing advanced expertise
in mental health care.
With over seven years of experience in
addiction and mental health services, Eman has supported individuals
across a range of therapeutic and crisis-focused roles. He is a
trauma-informed mental health therapist with specialized training in
crisis intervention and suicide prevention, including a Crisis
Specialist Certification (CSC) from the American Association of
Suicidology. He maintains ongoing professional development as required
by his licensing bodies to ensure his practice remains current, ethical,
and evidence-informed.
Eman’s clinical focus includes supporting
individuals through major life transitions, managing emotional
distress, processing difficult experiences, strengthening emotional
regulation, and reducing suicide risk. His therapeutic approach is
collaborative, practical, and grounded in real-life strategies. He
integrates evidence-based interventions such as Acceptance and
Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
(SFBT), and Supportive Psychotherapy, delivered with warmth, curiosity,
and care.
Eman offers a warm, non-judgmental space where clients
can explore difficult emotions, build resilience, and reconnect with
their inner strengths. He understands how overwhelming emotions and
major life transitions—such as grief, identity shifts, and relationship
changes—can feel, and approaches each person’s story with compassion and
respect. Believing therapy should be accessible, he offers flexible
rates, sliding-scale options, and convenient evening or weekend
appointments to help reduce barriers to care.

What is my clinician's treatment approach?
My
approach to therapy is integrative, meaning I use a mix of therapeutic
techniques that are tailored to meet your unique needs. This includes
methods like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT),
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT),
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Supportive Psychotherapy.
I
believe in meeting you where you are and working together to take
meaningful steps toward your goals. Part of our work include building
practical skills that can strengthen resilience and enhance your ability
to handle life’s challenges. I tend to offer tools, resources, or
“homework” to support your growth and help you apply what you’re
learning in therapy to your everyday life.
Finding
a good fit with your clinician is important, and I’m here to answer any
questions you may have about my approach. If another clinician might be
a better match for your needs, I’m also happy to help with a referral.
As
a Registered Nurse, I follow a professional code of ethics and legal
guidelines, committing to honesty, integrity, and transparency in all
interactions. I aim to build a therapeutic relationship rooted in
respect, empathy, and accountability.
I
recognize and value cultural diversity, understanding how each person’s
background shapes their beliefs, values, and experiences. My goal is to
create a welcoming, affirming environment that respects your unique
cultural identity.
Boundaries
are essential in therapy to protect your well-being and ensure
confidentiality. I’m committed to maintaining clear, professional
boundaries that support our work together and follow ethical guidelines
around physical contact, personal disclosures, and dual relationships.
Above
all, I strive to provide a safe, inclusive space where you can openly
explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment.
