
Welcome to the Smoke Break program! This bilingual, virtual program is designed by and for the 2S/LGBTQIA+ community to help you quit or cut back on smoking or vaping using a harm reduction approach. From the program’s advisory committees to peer support workers, 2S/LGBTQIA+ people with experience smoking are involved at every step. Our program is tailored to better meet the needs of our community. Plus, it's free to participate.
PROGRAM DETAILS
Smoke Break provides services to 2S/LGBTQIA+ identifying adults (over 18) living in Canada with experience smoking or using commercial tobacco or vaping. Contact smokebreak@cbrc.net if you have questions about eligibility or are under 18 and seeking a referral elsewhere.
By registering for the Smoke Break program you will have access to:
One-one-one peer support
Group peer support
Free nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) sent to your home
We can assist you with accessing other smoking resources in your province/territory and can help advocate with your healthcare provider for access to prescribed medications that can help quit or cut back on smoking and vaping.
APPROACH
Cessation, quitting, abstinence… These terms suggest a desire to stop smoking or vaping. For some of you, that’s what you’re looking for. Fantastic!
Cutting back, reducing, taking a break… These terms suggest a desire to change your relationship with smoking or vaping. Smoke Break takes a harm reduction approach that will support you how you want. Sometimes, that means still smoking, but differently. Also fantastic!
