Meet you counsellor - Lynette
I feel privileged to have lived and worked in Canada since 2022. Before that, my professional life unfolded in South Africa - a country rich with eleven indigenous cultures and languages - and I've since worked alongside expatriatres in both the US and Canada. This lived experience of crossing cultures, rebuilding a sense of belonging, and starting over shapes how I sit with clients. Today I work in-person at a trauma and abuse centre on Vancouver Island, and I also offer virtual therapy through my private practice, based in my home office.

How I work
As a counsellor, my role isn't to make your decisions for you. We'll start by understanding what brought you here, at your pace, with no pressure to disclose more than feels safe. I'm trauma-informed, drawing on evidence-based approaches including:
- Mindfulness
- Experiential therapy
- Motivational Interviewing (MI)
- Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
- EMDR
- For couples: Integrative Behavioural Couple Therapy (IBCT), which focuses on nurturing the emotional connection between partners.
What guides me
My work is grounded in my professional values: interdependence, authenticity, care and gratitude.
What you can expect
We'll go at your pace. There's no pressure to disclose more than feels safe, and you're always free to pause.
My aim is to create a space where you feel seen and supported in moving toward what matters most to you.
Invitation
It would be an honour to work with you as an individual, couple or family.
