Hi/Wah Gwaan
Welcome to Renewed Perspective Counselling & Psychotherapy. I’m Teika. I am a Jamaican Canadian Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and Registered Social Worker who is passionate about helping you navigate life’s complexities.
I value authenticity in the therapy space and aim to show up as a real and grounded person, not overly clinical, so that our work together feels human, collaborative, and connected. I strive to create a warm, calm, and compassionate space where you can feel safe to explore what’s weighing on your heart and mind.
My journey into the mental health field was shaped by a deep curiosity about how people heal. I have always been drawn to understanding how we adapt in order to survive—and how those patterns can both protect us and sometimes keep us from stepping into the lives we want. I hold a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Social Work from York University.
My approach is trauma-informed, strength-based, and flexible. I integrate elements of EMDR, psychodynamic therapy, existential and humanistic approaches, solution-focused therapy, and CBT, tailoring our work to your unique needs.
