Ryan Spies, RP (Qualifying) | Student Art Therapist
I offer a warm, thoughtful space where clients can slow down, explore their inner world, and begin to make sense of their experiences through both conversation and creative expression.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and a student Art Therapist completing my training at the Toronto Art Therapy Institute. I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Media in Design and have spent over 16 years teaching art and design to young people. My work has always been grounded in the belief that creativity can help people reconnect with themselves, regulate their nervous systems, and express emotions that can sometimes be difficult to put into words.
My approach is depth-oriented and human-centred. I integrate traditional talk therapy with art therapy when appropriate, offering clients the opportunity to work with drawing, painting, collage, or other materials as a way to explore thoughts, emotions, and patterns more fully. No art experience is required — the focus is on the process of expression, not artistic skill.
I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, identity exploration, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and relationship challenges. I also have a particular interest in supporting individuals connected to adoption and those interested in deeper personal growth and self-understanding.
Therapy with me is collaborative and paced with care. Together, we create a space where curiosity, reflection, and creativity can support meaningful change.
