A Kinder Relationship With Yourself. A Healthier Way Forward.

Jamie Dawdy, RN, BScN, MSc
Speaker | Workshop Facilitator | Nurse Psychotherapist

Helping people build healthier relationships with themselves, their bodies, food, and movement—through compassionate psychotherapy, engaging education, and practical strategies for sustainable change.

A More Compassionate Approach to Wellbeing

For many people, the relationship they have with themselves can be complicated.

You might struggle with body dissatisfaction, question your worth, compare yourself to others, or feel caught between wanting to care for your health and finding it difficult to make changes that fit your life.

These experiences don't happen in isolation. Our beliefs, relationships, past experiences, and circumstances can all influence how we see ourselves and approach our wellbeing.

My work explores how greater self-understanding, self-compassion, and practical, manageable steps can support a healthier relationship with yourself, your body, food, and movement.

You don't have to wait until something about you changes to begin treating yourself with kindness.

Areas of Focus

Body Image & Body Acceptance
Exploring body dissatisfaction, appearance-related pressures, comparison, and more compassionate ways of relating to your body.

Self-Worth, Self-Esteem & Confidence
Understanding self-criticism, perfectionism, self-trust, and developing a sense of worth that isn't dependent on appearance or achievement.

Relationships With Food & Movement
Exploring guilt, rigid rules, and all-or-nothing thinking, while considering more flexible and supportive approaches to nourishment and movement.

Resilience & Sustainable Wellbeing
Understanding how stress, personal capacity, relationships, and supportive environments can influence our ability to make meaningful changes.

Work With Me

Speaking & Workshops

Thoughtful conversations. Practical strategies. Meaningful reflection.

I develop and deliver evidence-informed presentations and workshops exploring body image, self-worth, self-compassion, resilience, and sustainable behaviour change.

My sessions aim to make psychological concepts accessible, encourage reflection, and share practical strategies that participants can consider within their own lives and circumstances.

Presentations can be adapted for community groups, healthcare professionals, educational settings, and workplace wellbeing initiatives.

RN Psychotherapy

Compassionate, individualized support.

I offer virtual RN psychotherapy in Ontario for individuals navigating concerns related to body image, self-worth, disordered eating, eating disorder recovery, and their relationships with food and movement.

My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and informed by specialized training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Psychotherapy offers space to explore your experiences, identify meaningful goals, and consider evidence-informed approaches appropriate to your individual needs.

About Jamie

I'm a Registered Nurse, nurse psychotherapist, speaker, and creator of the Resilience-Inspired Action Framework™.

My nursing experience spans clinical practice, education, research, leadership, and the development of evidence-informed initiatives.

My professional experience, alongside my own lived experience of recovery, has shaped my interest in resilience, self-compassion, and the conditions that can support meaningful change.

I'm particularly passionate about making evidence-informed psychological concepts accessible, relatable, and useful in everyday life.

The Resilience-Inspired Action Framework™

Capacity makes change possible.

The Resilience-Inspired Action Framework™ (RIA) is a six-pillar conceptual model I developed to bring together established ideas from resilience, psychotherapy, and behaviour change.

It explores how capacity, meaning, agency, direction, action, and support may influence our ability to pursue meaningful, values-aligned change.

RIA is an educational and conceptual resource. Although it integrates evidence-informed principles, the framework itself has not been empirically validated and is not a standalone psychotherapy treatment.
