Orca Kids Therapy · Squamish, BC

Speech-language therapy for children in the Sea to Sky

Orcas communicate constantly and look after their pod. That idea guides our work: supporting each child's communication with the people around them, and working closely with families. We offer speech-language assessment and therapy at home and online across BC.

Fiona Slade, speech-language pathologist

Meet your SLP

Fiona Slade, Speech-Language Pathologist

I have experience working with preschool, school age children, and young adults with a variety of speech, language and social communication needs. I hold a master's degree in speech-language pathology and have practised for 10 years, working in private practice, the public sector, schools and preschools, both in person and online.  I value working closely with a child's family and other professionals on their support team. My work is focused on ensuring goals are functional and meaningful to carry over into everyday life and activities. I am a mom of two and have lived and worked in the Squamish community since 2022.

How it works

Sessions are playful, reassuring and evidence-informed. Parents are part of the team: depending on your child's needs, we share strategies you can use at home and coach you along the way.

Common questions

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly.

How do I know if my child needs speech therapy?

If you have a concern, requesting a free intro call is a no-pressure way to connect.

Is online therapy an option for young children?

For many families it is, often with a parent taking an active part in the session. We will discuss with you whether online, in person or a mix makes the most sense for your child.

Can therapy use my child's Autism Funding?

Yes, eligible families can use their Autism Funding for speech and language services. Contact the Autism Funding Unit to confirm your eligibility.

Growing with our community

Like an orca pod, children and families benefit from a team around them. Over time, we hope to grow Orca Kids Therapy into a local team for Squamish families.
