Are you someone who has often felt a little different, a little odd, like you don't quite belong? Would you describe yourself as curious, creative, someone who is drawn to understanding themselves on a deeper level? Are you ready to show up for yourself, even if it gets uncomfortable or weird?
Hi, I’m Vanessa. A qualifying Registered Psychotherapist (# 20385), Expressive Arts Therapist and Yoga Teacher working online and in-person in Toronto. I believe that play, creativity, and imagination are incredibly important processes of humanity and for integrating both the challenges and the beauty of our lives.
Chances are, some part of you already has a sense of what you're working toward, what's asking for attention. What's often missing is a dedicated space, carved out of a full life, to actually meet it. That's what I offer: I hold the container of time and of a safe-enough, brave-enough space to walk alongside you as guide while you spelunk into yourself(selves), gain clarity, and rediscover meaning.
Sessions with me can look different from traditional talk therapy. We slow down, check in with the body, and may move into moments of meditation or quiet inward noticing, work with an artistic medium {like clay, pastels, movement, sound, natural materials}; whatever feels alive. We drop into the flow of making for a while, then come back to reflect on what emerged. Other times, we may just talk and never pick up a pencil or an instrument; I always aim to meet what feels best for the moment.
Over time I’ve noticed folks develop a deeper understanding of themselves, more capacity to sit with emotions, and often a stronger sense of meaning, direction, or authenticity in their lives. I truly believe therapy doesn't have to feel serious or scary; there's a lot of room for playfulness and wonder in here too!
In-person sessions are offered through the Toronto Wellness Collective’s professional office spaces, 201-489 College Street, Toronto
I also offer group expressive arts therapy throughout the city of Toronto and Online for those seeking community and a relief from isolation.
